The storied Wagoneer name returned in 2022 applied to a good-looking three-row full-size SUV offered in standard and long-wheelbase versions. Think Chevy Tahoe or Suburban sized, with both offering more power than that competition and plenty of room for a family plus cargo. Jeep uses its own twin-turbo inline-six (dubbed Hurricane by parent company Stellantis) to make 420 horsepower, with rear- or four-wheel drive available. A selection of off-road systems allows the Wagoneer to tackle sand/mud, snow, and rock modes.
Affordable Wagoneer SUVs: Style and Performance Within Reach
Affordable Wagoneer SUVs allow the SUV to raise and lower at the push of a button for easier entry/exit, while other nice touches include auto-retracting side steps and second-row seats that tilt and slide forward to create a pass-through to third row. Jeep’s infotainment and digital gauge screens are large, and several driver-assistance features can be added as options.
With rear-wheel drive, the Wagoneer returns an EPA-rated 17/24/20 mpg city/highway/combined, while the four-wheel-drive version is rated at 16/23/19 mpg. The Wagoneer can also tow up to 10,000 pounds when properly equipped.
The Wagoneer isn’t the most nimble vehicle you’ll find, but it handles about as well as something this size can. It can be difficult to pilot in tight spaces, but it’s a comfortable ride over rough roads, and the Hemi provides enough acceleration for easy passing and merging.
