Mathematics IGCSE class stands for International General Certificate of Secondary Education and it’s a qualification that’s recognised worldwide. Like GCSE, it’s graded from 1 to 9 with a top score of 9. IGCSE can be taken at Foundation or Higher Tier and you can achieve a Level 2 pass (equivalent to a Grade C) at the end of the course or, if you take the Advanced Mathematics Option, a Grade 4 which opens doors to more advanced study, including A Level maths.

Both options are covered in one Coursebook and the text includes useful hints in the margins for students doing Extended so they can access the parts of the book that suit them best.
The Core syllabus is an examination comprising Paper 1 and Paper 3. Paper 1 consists of short-answer questions that carry 35% of the overall mark while Paper 3 is made up of structured questions and has a weightage of 65%. The content is divided into 4 topics – Number, Algebra, Shape and Space and Probability and Statistics with the greatest emphasis placed on Numbers (30-35%) and Shape and Space (30-35%).
